.hub.shock — the Lab's local backbone
=======================================
Version 1.0.0-beta.8 · Windows 10/11, 64-bit · dotshock.ai/hub/

WHAT'S IN THIS ZIP
-------------------
  DotshockHubSetup-1.0.0-beta.8.exe the installer (unsigned)
DotshockHubSetup-1.0.0-beta.8.exe.sha256.txt its checksum — verify before running
  README.txt this file

QUICK START
-----------
1. Verify the installer BEFORE running it:

     certutil -hashfile DotshockHubSetup-1.0.0-beta.8.exe SHA256

The output must match the hash in the .sha256.txt file above, and the
   installer hash printed on dotshock.ai/hub/.

2. Run the installer. It is a per-user install — no admin prompt.
Windows SmartScreen WILL warn ("Windows protected your PC"). This is
expected: this beta is not code-signed (no certificate exists yet).
Click "More info" -> "Run anyway" ONLY if the checksum in step 1 matched.

3. First run: sign in once with your dotshock.ai account, review the
server manifest, add your watch folders. A dotshock workspace checkout
is optional; point the Hub at one in Settings if you have it.

4. Click "Install all" under Services. The manifest provisions every
server in one checkpointed pass — if a step fails it stops in a known
state and resumes from there, never a silent half-install.

5. Go back to the web apps. They find your local servers automatically.
The tray icon opens the dashboard any time.

WHAT THE INSTALLER CARRIES, AND WHAT IT DOES NOT
-------------------------------------------------
Inside the installer: the Lab app pages, the Asset Service (file store)
and a PHP 8.4 runtime for the Directory app.

Downloaded when you choose "Install all": the Dotshock Engine (faces,
person re-ID, the publish relay) from dotshock.ai into the Hub's own
data folder, with its Python packages from PyPI.

Not included — the Hub checks for these and says so in words instead of
  half-starting:
    - a database (MariaDB or MySQL). The Asset Service and the Directory
need one; name it in asset-service.json in the Hub data folder.
    - the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 x64 runtime (the bundled PHP
      needs it).
    - Python, for the Engine.

WHAT IT WILL AND WON'T DO
--------------------------
  - Sign-in token is sealed in the OS credential vault. Used, never shown.
  - Only the Hub writes to disk, and only inside folders you approved —
every write is logged with a backup ring and an Undo.
  - Uninstalling never touches your RAW files or session data.
  - It never updates itself silently.

dotshock.ai/hub/ is the download page and carries the current SHA-256.
