Political portraits — 06

Thirty seconds, shot while they are already lit.

The person is in front of a lit background, groomed, and already used to the room. That is the cheapest thirty seconds of video a campaign will ever buy — a statement piece, a to-camera introduction or a set of social cutdowns, captured before the lights come down.

From €900 30–60 seconds Vertical + 16:9

What this service delivers

Almost every campaign eventually needs a candidate talking to camera, and almost every campaign buys it as a separate production three weeks later — a second call sheet, a second crew, a second lighting setup that does not match the portrait. Captured inside the portrait session it costs a fraction of that, because the expensive parts are already paid for. We add a second light, a lavalier and a prompter, take one or two takes of an agreed script, and deliver it cut for the places it will actually be posted: vertical for feed and stories, 16:9 for broadcast, YouTube and the website, with subtitles in BHS and English. The licence matches the portrait licence, so nothing needs re-clearing.

What comes out of the session

One session, both media.

01

A 30–60 second statement

An agreed script or talking points, one or two takes, shot against the same background and register as the portrait.

02

Vertical and 16:9 cuts

Delivered in the aspect ratios the platforms actually take, framed at capture for both rather than cropped afterwards.

03

Clean audio

Lavalier plus a room mic, recorded properly. Bad audio kills a statement clip faster than bad framing ever will.

04

Prompter on set

A prompter for anybody who wants one. A candidate reading from a phone held over a camera is visible from the first frame.

05

BHS and EN subtitles

Burned-in for social and as sidecar files for broadcast and the website — most of this footage is watched with the sound off.

06

Matched grade

Colour graded to match the stills from the same session, so the video and the portrait read as one piece of work.

Subtitles drafted by machine, corrected by a human who speaks the language.

The smart layer

Automatic transcription is genuinely good at Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian now — and genuinely unreliable on exactly the words a campaign cannot get wrong: place names, party names, institutions and the candidate’s own surname.

  • Machine first draft

Speech-to-text produces the timed transcript, which removes the tedious part and makes a same-day turnaround realistic.

  • Human correction pass

Every proper noun, place name and institution is checked by a person against your own spelling. Machine output is never delivered unchecked.

  • Delivered both ways

Burned-in for feed video where captions are not guaranteed, and as sidecar SRT/VTT for broadcast and the website.

How it runs.

Step 01

Script or talking points

Agreed before the session, sent to the prompter, and kept short enough to survive being read aloud once.

Step 02

Capture in the same session

A second light, a lavalier and a prompter added to the standing portrait setup. One or two takes, then the lights come down.

Step 03

Cut, subtitle, grade

Cut for vertical and 16:9, subtitled in BHS and English with a human correction pass, graded to match the stills, delivered under the same licence.

Disclosure

Every frame on this page is our own studio reference work, photographed to demonstrate the standard. No client campaign material appears here, or anywhere else on this site.

Before you brief.

Can you do this for a whole slate, not just one person?

Yes, but the arithmetic changes. Thirty seconds each across four hundred people is a video production with a portrait attached, not the reverse. For slates we normally recommend it for the named candidates and leadership rather than everybody.

What if the candidate cannot read a prompter?

Then we do not use one. Talking points on a card and a conversational question-and-answer, cut down afterwards, produces a better clip than a badly-read script every time.

Do we get the raw footage?

On request and at contract, yes. By default you receive the finished cuts, because raw footage of a candidate misspeaking is a liability sitting on somebody’s drive, and most campaigns would rather it did not exist.

A statement video from the same session, from €900.

Priced as an add-on to any portrait tier. Booked as a standalone production without a portrait session, it is quoted separately. Express 24-hour delivery on the batch is available at +40%.
