This is the day photographers book when technically their images are fine, but they aren't landing commercial jobs. You spend a full day in a working studio with a photographer of 20+ years, shooting a real brief end to end — from the moment the mood board lands to the moment files are delivered. You'll light a set from scratch, direct a subject, capture tethered, review frames live and finish selects to a delivery standard. Small group or private. You leave with your own edited images from the day, a written setup reference, and the confidence to quote and shoot commercial work.

Reading the brief

Turning a client mood board and shot list into a shooting plan — deciding what the image has to say before a single light goes up.

Lighting from scratch

Building commercial light one head at a time — key, fill, rim and background — and shaping it with modifiers until the set reads clean.

Directing talent

Getting natural, on-brief expression and movement out of a subject — the direction language that keeps a shoot moving and a client calm.

Tethered capture

Shooting to a monitor, reviewing selects live with the client in the room, and building a fast, reliable on-set capture workflow.

Selection & finishing

Culling fast, choosing the frames that sell, and finishing selects to a colour and retouch standard a paying client expects.

Delivery & handoff

Exporting, packaging and delivering files with the right specs, naming and licensing note — the professional finish that earns repeat work.

How the day runs.

Step 01

Morning — brief & light

We break down the brief, plan the shots and build the lighting for the set together, so you understand every decision before we shoot.

Step 02

Midday — the shoot

You shoot the brief tethered, directing the subject and reviewing frames live — with hands-on adjustments as we go.

Step 03

Afternoon — select & deliver

We cull, finish selects and package delivery — you leave with your own edited images and a written reference for every setup.
